You are required to prepare an individual management report analysing how operations management is conceived, supported, delivered and developed in a chosen organisation
Your report should address the following:
The transformation model and 4vsi
Operations performance
Process design and analysis
Within your report, you should both discuss the relevant theoretical concepts and frameworks, and apply them to analyse operations in the chosen organisation. In relation to the three topics suggested above, you need to consider the following:
What critical issues or problems emerge in the particular organisation’s context
How the organisation is responding to them
How we can interpret and evaluate the finding You are required to prepare an individual management report analysing how operations management is conceived, supported, delivered and developed in a chosen organisation
s in light of the literature: and
What we can suggest for improvement

PLAN:
Look at the first 3 sessions:
Present and discuss each theorectical concept and framework you use – transformational model, 4V’s etc (possibly in a table) – identify 2-3 operations in the organisation and complete a table to present the transformation model and another table to illustrate the 4v’s for these operations. Discuss one operation in detail (for both the transformation model and 4vs)
Operations performance- select one level (either societal, strategic or operational) and discuss all dimensions within that level in detail
Then process design and analysis- identify and justify /explain: what type of process they use? What is the type of layout? And design a process map (flowchart) with at least 10 steps and two decision points, for any process or part of the process within the analysed organisation/ business unit in all three sections
Provide some observations after your analysis and suggestions for improvement.
– no more than 1-2 paragraphs per section
Use a wide variety of academic sources to discuss the theory (not only slack)
Use academic sources for the theory, as opposed to wikipedia, blogs etc.
You can use non-academic sources for details about the organisation’s operations, but make sure these are reliable (company’s website, industry reports, etc.)
After the brief theoretical discussion, you need to apply those concepts to analyse the operations of an organisation of your choice

Operations can be understood as the organisation of resources this can be things such as raw materials, people and equipment to either manufacture or deliver a product and or service. Operations Management is about the managing the processes and resources that create and deliver products and services to customers. It is essential in ensuring that these same goods and services are maintained and sent to the customer. The four v’s stand for Volume, Variety, Variation and Visibility. There are many parts to running an effective operation. This starts from the beginning stages of planning and the process design, all the way to the combining with other organisational segments such as supply chains. “Everything we eat, sit on, use, read or knock about on the sports field comes to you on courtesy of the operations manager who organised its production”. Operational and administrative processes share several characteristics. Both involve sequences of linked, interdependent activities that together transform inputs into outputs. Both have beginnings and ends, and have boundaries in which are reasonable precision and minimal overlap.
